The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
