This Creepy Thriller

The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation of the disgraced televangelist and her criminal husband. Garfield plays the greedy Jim, who declares early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals begin monetising the people's spiritual convictions. It's a riot of tacky decor, bad makeup and bad faith, however the lead actress manages to depict the real-life figure with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, Film4
